If you want the best all-rounder and super dexterous glove go for the Fission, but there's better options for Mitts. If you're set on mittens, go for something like the BD Mercury Mitt or the Heli Ski Mitt from Hestra. Probably the biggest selling point of the Fission gloves is the incredible dexterity you retain whilst wearing them, which you're sort of throwing away going for the mitten option. Fission should be good enough depending on the winter. However, you can get basically all of those features for less from the above mentioned brands. If the concern is money, then get the shell from Arc and there are a ton of more affordable mid layer options that are much cheaper at brands like Outdoor Research, North Face, and even Columbia or Costco. I absolutely love the gauntlet, and the pulls to tighten and loosen the glove are excellent, and they kept me super warm and my hands dry even in rain. They've lasted an entire, full-on skiing season with heavy use every day, and they're only showing a few small signs of wear, but I don't think I'd get drastically worse longevity out of a BD or Hestra glove.
